About Kruger Gate Hotel
Kruger Gate Hotel is a 4-star hotel on the banks of the Sabie River, at the Paul Kruger Gate of Kruger National Park. It was formerly the Protea Hotel by Marriott Kruger Gate. Paul Kruger Gate is 590 m away as the crow flies: you are in the park a few minutes after it opens. Skukuza Rest Camp, the largest camp in Kruger, and Skukuza airport are 11 km away. Phabeni and Numbi gates are 25 and 35 km away.
To enter the park, the hotel recommends Paul Kruger, Phabeni and Malelane gates, and advises against Numbi Gate for safety reasons. A paid shuttle links the hotel to Skukuza airport.
Rooms
Deluxe rooms measure 33 to 35 m², with a double bed or two twin beds, a sofa and a desk area. Family rooms have two queen beds or two king beds, because the hotel does not add extra beds. The detached chalet offers 120 m².

Parks and reserves nearby
Kruger begins at Paul Kruger Gate, a few hundred meters from the hotel. You drive in with your own car when the gate opens, between 5:30 and 6 a.m. depending on the month, and Skukuza is about ten kilometers into the park. This southern part of Kruger, between the Sabie and Crocodile rivers, is where you stand the best chance of seeing lions, leopards and rhinos.
Without a car, the hotel runs open-vehicle safaris in the park, at extra cost. Sabi Sand, the private reserve next door, only takes guests of its own lodges: from the hotel, your safari is in Kruger.
